How a solar cell works

Light acts as both a wave and a particle. Einstein described light as a "conglomeration of projectiles". If these projectiles – the photons – have sufficient energy and hit a free electron in a conductor or semiconductor, that electron is set into motion. Electricity begins to flow. It is drawn off the surface of the solar cell through silver contacts. Several cells are connected via contacts to form a module. The electricity generated in this way can be used directly or fed into the power grid.

From wafers to cells

How solar cells are produced

The wafers initially pass through several chemical baths to remove microscopic damage from their surfaces. A negative-conducting film is then applied onto their surfaces. Afterwards an additional film is applied to allow more light to penetrate the wafers. Front and back contacts are then printed on the wafers and burnt in using a furnace. The finished cells are then meticulously checked and classified based on efficiency, electrical and visual characteristics.

Q6LPT3-G3 New design for more module power

Q6LPT3-G3 is the consequent advancement of our polycrystalline solar cells. With efficiencies up to 18.0 % it allows for the best energy output of solar modules. Q6LPT3-G3 is still the safest solar cell, naturally being PID free1 as well as Hot-Spot free.
